Formby 3 - 2 Warrington Town
A LAST minute strike by Mark Wilson of Formby on Saturday condemned Warrington to only their third away defeat in the North Western Trains League second division since October 1998.
Town, forced to make changes in the side and with key defenders absent, had looked to have secured a draw. Striker Kevin Tyrrell, brought on as substitute midway through the second half, immediately injected extra thrust into an uninspired attack. It led to him equalising with five minutes remaining. He took possession of a precisely flighted through ball by Ian Callaghan and cleverly side-stepped 'keeper Lyndon King before steering in a low drive. Chris Lee had headed them in front in the 11th minute after meeting a lofted free kick by Robbie Preidt.
Formby overturned that effort, firstly through a 15 yard shot by Tony
Millar prior to half-time, with Lee Ryan side-footing in a second from close range after
79 minutes.
Town: McCormack, Harris, Ashton, Callaghan, Tickle, L. Holden (Tyrrell 64 mins), McDonald,
Smith (Fenton 46), Bushell (Bura 83), Preidt, Lee.
